The work 'Handgebaar' has come from a research about feeling 'geborgen' a Dutch word that describes the feeling of safety and being taken care of. This project is about touch and creating connection. Connection with the physical material, the various types of textile, but also creating a connection between the textile and the people who gave them. Most of the textiles used for this piece came from various friends/family around me. All the pieces donated had some kind of story. A memory. A life before it was given for this piece. All those stories I have collected in a catalogue, to create a piece full of stories and connection.
Creating connection is something we need in a world that creates gaps between people. With this work I invite people to connect with their soft side. To connect with other people and to step into the world of the other.

WOOL - Anouk van Heteren en Danique Waarle, 2023

Materiaal: Wol + body van kippengaas
Afmeting: 200x100 cm
In dit werk willen de makers Danique Waarle en Anouk van Heteren aandacht besteden aan de schoonheid van wol en hebben zij onderzocht hoe wolproductie handmatig en traditioneel in zijn gang gaat. Ze zijn begonnen bij het schaap, en eindigen bij een sculptuur in wording. In het maakproces hebben zij zich beziggehouden met het wassen, kaarden en vilten van wol. Een relevant thema, aangezien de wolproductie in Nederland bijna niks meer oplevert. Veel wol wordt geïmporteerd vanuit voornamelijk Turkije of Australië. Nederlandse schapenboeren zijn vaak genoodzaakt om hun wol weg te gooien. Waarle en Van Heteren zochten Nederlandse schapenboeren op en kregen deze prachtige wol gratis mee.
Door het langzame maakproces van het vilten uit te voeren willen zij een tastbare tegenhanger laten zien van de huidige fast-fashion industrie. De textielindustrie van nu is erg vervuilend en niet duurzaam. Wol daarintegen is een prachtig puur en duurzaam materiaal, wat niet alleen in kleding verwerkt kan worden, maar ook in dekens of zelfs als isolatie materiaal.
Dit installatiewerk nodigt u uit om wol van echte Wallischerschapen te zien, voelen en ruiken. Voel je vrij om op uw manier deel te nemen aan het werk.

To The Roots - Pop/Punk band 2022 - Amsterdam/Luxembourg
For the band 'To The Roots' I've made two covers for their songs 'Searching for you' and 'Bottled Up'. The first one I made using digital collage-making (Right). The second was more of a fun project where I've drew the band members in cartoon form. First on paper and then again digitally (Left). Check them out! Also the music :)
